ENOUGH WITH DANDRUFF

We all love snow-flakes, corn-flakes but the only flakes that scare us are the presence of white flakes on our shoulder and hair scalp. Dandruff is a condition in which skin of the scalp flakes out i.e., small bits of dry skin are shed from the scalp. Dandruff could make our scalp itchy and irritated which can leads to weakening of hair roots ultimately causing hair fall. Moreover, dandruff not only affect the hair scalp but also our confidence; it has great effect on our psychological health. According to the website of National Centre of Biotechnology Information (NCBI), various studies show the prevalence of dandruff across the world is up to 50% in general population.

Reasons of this could be dryness of scalp i.e., not enough moisturizing hair scalp. Dirt and pollution present in the environment could also affect our hair health by getting accumulated on the scalp. But in order to remove the gunk from the scalp people end up using chemical-based shampoos. A lot of dermatologists are of the view that dandruff could also be the result of using harsh, chemical-based shampoos or cleansers. These harsh chemical-based shampoos remove the natural oil, produce by sebaceous gland present in the hair scalp making our scalp skin dry and itchy.

In order to treat dandruff in the most effective manner, one can use natural hair cleanser twice a week for cleaning hair. Now a days, people have a lot of varieties of hair cleansers both in liquid and soap form which gently cleanses the scalp without affecting the natural oil of the scalp. Hair oiling can improve our hair health in many ways by nourishing, replenishing and locking the moisture of hair. Pure oils like Coconut oil, Bhringraj oil, Hibiscus oil with essential oils could be a great combination. Moreover, eating healthy and balanced diet would help in a long way for strengthening our hair. Power food like Amla could be consumed for the same.
